Starting out my working life in a plant hire centre, then moving on to a career in a prison library, I used to joke that I was the only librarian in the country (UK, that is) with a certificate to change abrasive wheels.
Years later, when I trained as a florist, the joke became that I was the only florist in the country trained as a hostage negotiator.
Some of the other entries on my CV include a small amount of published poetry and awards won for web site designs. Oh, and regular public speaking as a Kleeneze distributor. The biggest audience I ever addressed was around 2000. That's if you don't count speaking on the local radio chat show.
I've been writing web site content for clients ranging from a carpet retailer to a power tool wholesaler to network marketers for almost a decade now, and am finally earning a living as a freelance writer for an American University and one of the big knowledge based sites.

So now I'm an ex-librarian, ex-website designer, ex-network marketer, ex-florist cum freelance writer. Branching out into fiction writing...
